EFFECTIVE PROMPT

1. Give Clear Context

Set the Stage

The AI needs to know the "who," "what," and "why" behind your request. Without context, the output is a shot in the dark.

Weak

"Write an email."

Good

"Write a professional email to my manager explaining why I need two extra days to finalize the project."

Task & Style

2. Specify the Task

Be explicit about exactly what you want the AI to do. Ambiguity leads to generic results.

  • "Summarize this text in 3 bullet points."
  • "Rewrite this paragraph to be friendly."
  • "Generate 5 ideas for content."

3. Set the Style

Shape the output by defining the "voice" and format.

Tone Friendly, formal, casual, expert.
Style Concise, detailed, academic, funny.
Format Table, steps, email, script, bullet points.

Examples & Constraints

4. Provide Examples

AI learns instantly from patterns. Show it exactly what you want to get the best match.

"I want captions like this: 'Short, punchy, modern.' Now create 10 new captions in the same style."

5. Add Constraints

Limits actually improve accuracy by narrowing the search space.

  • "Keep it under 150 words."
  • "No jargon; explain like I'm a beginner."
  • "Output only JSON code."

6. Define the Audience

AI answers differently depending on who the output is for. Always specify your target reader to adjust complexity and tone.

Simplicity

"Explain this to a 10-year-old."

Professionalism

"Write as if presenting to senior leadership."

Demographic Targeting

"Target customers aged 20-30."

7. Ask for Improvements

The "Power Trick"

Don't settle for the first draft.

Refine It

Ask the AI to critique and improve its own answer. Use follow-up prompts like:

"Give me 3 more versions—more concise, more persuasive, and more creative."

The Perfect Prompt Formula

Use this structure for consistent, high-quality results:

[Role]
[Task]
[Context]
[Format]
[Style / Tone]
[Constraints]
[Example (Optional)]
